Iran Warns Israeli Strikes On Lebanon Undermine Ceasefire Talks

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused Israel of breaching a ceasefire agreement brokered with the United States, warning that continued attacks on Lebanon could derail ongoing negotiations.

Gatekeepers Newreports that Pezeshkian said the strikes undermine the spirit of the truce reached earlier in the week between Iran and the US, which was based on a 10-point peace framework proposed by Tehran.

However, both Israel and the United States maintain that the ceasefire applies strictly to hostilities involving Iran, Israel, and the US, and does not extend to Israeli military actions in Lebanon.

Despite the disagreement, Iran insists Lebanon is covered under the arrangement. Speaking on Thursday, Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf described Lebanon as a key component of the two-week ceasefire deal.

In a post on X, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s support for Lebanon and issued a stern warning.

“Israel’s renewed incursion into Lebanon is a blatant violation of the initial ceasefire agreement. This is a dangerous sign of deception and lack of commitment to potential agreements. The continuation of these actions will render negotiations meaningless. Our fingers remain on the trigger. Iran will never abandon its Lebanese sisters and brothers,” he said.

Ghalibaf also criticised the United States for what he described as “repeated” breaches of its commitments, arguing that continued violations call into question the viability of ongoing diplomatic efforts.

While details of the 10-point plan remain undisclosed, the acceptance of Iran’s uranium enrichment reportedly forms part of the framework.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said Washington would cooperate with Iran to locate and remove buried uranium, signalling a different interpretation of the agreement.

Ghalibaf warned that pursuing negotiations under such conditions would be unreasonable, further highlighting growing tensions over the scope and implementation of the ceasefire.
