Dangote Refinery Expands Reach With Direct Jet Fuel Supply To Ethiopian Airlines

Dangote refinery has commenced direct aviation fuel deliveries to , marking a major step in the refinery’s expansion into the international aviation fuel market.

Gatekeepers News reports that the development comes amid tightening global fuel supplies caused by rising geopolitical tensions, particularly the crisis involving the United States and Iran.  

The refinery’s Managing Director, David Bird, disclosed the development during an energy conference in Lagos. He said the refinery has now achieved enough production capacity to meet Nigeria’s domestic fuel needs while also exporting surplus jet fuel, diesel and petrol to other countries.  

Bird stated that the refinery has supplied refined petroleum products to 11 African countries since the escalation of the Middle East crisis in late February. He added that although the company is expanding globally, its primary focus remains the African market.

He noted that the refinery was proud to have completed a direct fuel delivery to Ethiopian Airlines and would continue exporting surplus products across the continent.  

Reports indicate that the refinery is currently operating at full capacity after earlier maintenance works, allowing it to respond to increasing global demand for aviation fuel.

Global oil prices have climbed to about $112 per barrel, worsening fuel supply concerns in several import-dependent countries. Bird stressed that fuel availability now poses a bigger challenge than price increases in many markets.
