A faction of the Lagos chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has suspended party elder Bode George and 23 other chieftains over alleged anti-party activities.

Gatekeepers News reports that the suspension was announced by the faction’s disciplinary committee in a statement signed by its chairman, Kayode Ogunbiyi, and secretary, Desmond Agbo.

According to the committee, the decision followed a review of several petitions alleging anti-party conduct and violations of the PDP constitution during a meeting held on May 26.

The committee accused the affected members of associating with rival political parties and engaging in activities allegedly aimed at undermining the interests of the PDP in Lagos State. It said the party could no longer tolerate actions capable of causing division and disaffection within its ranks.

Among those suspended alongside George are Aduke Maina, Abimbola Ogunkelu, Laja Adeoye, Tunji Shelle, Sunday Olaifa, Gbenga Adegbesan, Rita Orji, Kofoworola Bucknor, Onikepo Oshodi, Adetokunbo Pearse and several other prominent members of the party.

The faction stated that all suspended members are barred from participating in party activities or representing the PDP in any official or unofficial capacity within the state. It also warned that further legal action could be taken against any of them if they continue to act against the interests of the party.

George, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees and a longtime influential figure in Lagos politics, has been involved in a prolonged dispute with the Wike-backed bloc within the party.
