President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received the President of Madagascar, Michael Randrianirina, at the State House, Abuja, in a meeting aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding cooperation between both countries.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Madagascan leader arrived at the Presidential Villa on Monday and was formally received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, before proceeding to a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu at Aso Rock.
According to reports from the State House, the engagement focused on enhancing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Madagascar, with emphasis on regional development, economic cooperation, and broader African integration efforts.
Officials said both leaders used the opportunity to discuss ways of deepening collaboration within the African Union framework, particularly in areas such as trade, investment opportunities, and continental stability. Nigeria and Madagascar have maintained diplomatic ties over the years, with both countries supporting shared goals of economic growth and regional unity.
The visit is also seen as part of ongoing efforts by Nigeria to strengthen partnerships with African countries under its foreign policy drive focused on cooperation, peace, and development across the continent.
The meeting ended with both sides expressing commitment to continued engagement and stronger diplomatic ties between Abuja and Antananarivo.
