Troops Free 53 Captives – Foil Terrorist Operation In Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued 53 civilians and foiled a terrorist operation in Borno State after suspected ISWAP fighters mounted a roadblock along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area.

Gatekeepers News reports that the military said the operation was carried out on June 24 by personnel of the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2.

According to the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, troops stationed at Dutse Kura detected the insurgents blocking the highway through surveillance cameras.

A Quick Reaction Force was immediately deployed and pursued the terrorists toward the Mangari-Dora area, where a firefight ensued, forcing the attackers to flee.

The troops subsequently rescued 53 hostages and recovered eight vehicles that had been seized by the terrorists during the incident. Soldiers also cleared the insurgents’ withdrawal route and conducted follow-up searches in the area to prevent further attacks.

The military said all rescued civilians, recovered vehicles and other properties were safely evacuated to Buratai town. The victims are currently undergoing documentation and medical evaluation, while security operations continue across the area to sustain pressure on terrorist groups.
