Sanwo-Olu Launches Pilot School Feeding Programme

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has launched the pilot phase of the Adopt-A-School PBAT Feeds Programme, tagged “Snacks for Thought,” as part of efforts to improve child nutrition, boost school enrolment and enhance learning outcomes across the state.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the initiative was unveiled on Wednesday at the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA) under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (RHNSFP).

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the programme as a collaborative initiative involving the Federal Government, the Lagos State Government and the private sector to secure a brighter future for Nigerian children.

He said the initiative goes beyond providing meals to pupils, noting that it is founded on the belief that no child should be deprived of quality education because of hunger.

The governor called on corporate organisations, financial institutions, charitable foundations, faith-based organisations, alumni associations and other well-meaning Nigerians to adopt public primary schools across Lagos in support of the programme.

As part of the launch, Sanwo-Olu also unveiled the Adopt-A-School Dashboard, a digital platform designed to enhance transparency by enabling sponsors to identify beneficiary schools, monitor ongoing projects and track the impact of their interventions in real time.

According to the governor, the initiative is expected to improve school attendance and academic performance while creating economic opportunities for farmers, caterers, food processors and other local businesses through increased demand for locally sourced food.
