A member of the House of Representatives representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency of Osun State, Oluwole Oke, has alleged that some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are working against his political ambition and vowed to challenge the outcome of the forthcoming election in court if he is defeated.
Gatekeepers News reports that speaking during a strategy meeting with supporters in Esa-Oke, the five-term lawmaker claimed there was a coordinated effort by influential political figures to end his political dominance in the constituency.
Oke, who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after being denied an automatic return ticket, said the development had strained long-standing political alliances in the constituency.
He accused some APC leaders, including former allies, of betraying him and collaborating with his political opponents to undermine his chances in the election.
He said, “I have served these people with unwavering loyalty for twenty years, but today, I see the machinery of the state turning against me. There is a coordinated, systemic plan to ensure my failure.
“I control the political trajectory of Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency. I am the most popular politician in the zone. If the numbers do not align with the reality of the support on the ground, I am not waiting for a concession call. My legal team is already seated, and we will take this to the highest court in the land.”
The lawmaker further alleged that his opponents were working with insiders to divert sensitive electoral materials to rural areas where his rival enjoys support in a bid to facilitate ballot stuffing.
Oke also claimed that the APC chapter in Ijesa North had been infiltrated by spies and moles, creating mistrust between him and party leaders. He alleged that some members of the party leadership were taking steps aimed at encouraging APC members and leaders to work against his ambition.
Although he did not provide documentary evidence to support the allegations, Oke maintained that intelligence available to him pointed to a plot to force him out of politics.
Despite expressing concerns about the local party structure, the lawmaker urged his supporters to remain committed to the APC and work towards securing victory in the election.
