President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Abuja for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave, the Presidency announced on Sunday.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s first destination is London, United Kingdom. The Presidency did not disclose the full itinerary for the trip.
Onanuga said the President is expected to return to Nigeria after the working vacation to join the campaign activities ahead of the January 2027 general elections.
The trip comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with the campaign season already underway.
Tinubu’s three-week leave follows the recent vacation of Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who resumed official duties earlier this month after a 12-day leave.
This is Tinubu’s third annual leave since he assumed office in May 2023. In September 2025, he spent 10 working days on a working vacation in France and the UK, while in October 2024, he embarked on a two-week annual leave in the UK.
Tinubu is expected back in the country after the three-week break to participate in the 2027 election campaign.
