The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has postponed the unveiling and inauguration of its national campaign council for the 2027 presidential election from October 20 to October 26.
Gatekeepers News reports that Osa Director, the party’s national publicity secretary, announced the postponement in a statement issued on Monday.
Director said the decision was due to the “tight schedule” of Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, who has an important overseas engagement.
He apologised for any inconvenience caused by the change and urged party members and supporters to remain focused on the party’s electoral ambitions.
The spokesperson called on supporters to work towards securing victory for Obi, his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and other NDC candidates in the 2027 elections.
On Sunday, Kwankwaso said the party would not withdraw from the 2027 presidential race in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any other political party.
His remarks came amid discussions about a possible opposition alliance to field a single presidential candidate against President Bola Tinubu.
Kwankwaso maintained that he and Obi remained committed to contesting the election.
