The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has prohibited the use of drones, fireworks and other devices capable of causing panic ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s one-day working visit to the state on Friday.

Gatekeepers News reports that Tinubu is expected to commission several projects executed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration and attend an All Progressives Congress (APC) political rally ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, announced the restrictions at a news conference in Uyo on Thursday, describing them as security measures to ensure a peaceful presidential visit and protect residents.

Azare urged residents to avoid roads designated for the President’s movement to allow the smooth passage of his convoy.

He said major routes, including Airport Road, Iron Road and Ring Road III, leading to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, would be subject to restrictions during the visit.

The police commissioner also appealed to other political parties in the state to reschedule any political activities planned for Friday to prevent clashes and maintain public order.

He warned that the command would not tolerate attempts to disrupt the presidential visit or cause a breakdown of law and order, adding that security personnel were prepared to respond to any threats.

Projects scheduled for commissioning by the President include the new terminal building at Victor Attah International Airport, the Aviation Village, the Ring Road III Extension and Arise Resort Park in Uyo.
