President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Saturday attended the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, ahead of the 2027 general election.
Gatekeepers News reports that the rally, organised by the Rainbow Coalition led by Wike, was held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium and attracted political leaders, party supporters and stakeholders from Rivers State and other parts of the South-South region.
According to TheCable, Tinubu used the occasion to appeal to Rivers residents to support his re-election bid, promising another four years of economic prosperity.
The President thanked the people of the state for their support during the 2023 presidential election, saying their votes contributed to his emergence as president.
He also commended Wike for his contributions to infrastructure development and described him as a development partner of his administration.
Tinubu further praised Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for embracing reconciliation following the prolonged political disagreement between him and his predecessor, Wike.
The President said Fubara had demonstrated maturity and respect for the intervention of political leaders in resolving the crisis.
In his remarks, Fubara pledged to mobilise at least three million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The governor also declared his support for the Rainbow Coalition, an alliance involving members of the APC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under Wike’s leadership.
He thanked Tinubu for intervening during the state’s political crisis, describing the President’s actions as instrumental in restoring peace and ensuring the continuity of his administration.
Meanwhile, Shettima urged Rivers residents and political stakeholders across the South-South to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition, citing the administration’s economic reforms and achievements.
The Vice-President also defended the government’s economic policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of multiple foreign exchange rates.
Other dignitaries at the rally included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and several state governors.
The Rivers rally followed Tinubu’s political engagements in Akwa Ibom State, where he inaugurated projects executed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration and attended an APC campaign rally.
The ruling party is intensifying its mobilisation activities across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
