Lagos State Government, South West Nigeria, said it is investigating a viral video showing kegs of petrol handed out as souvenirs at an event centre in Lagos.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Lagos State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed this in a statement.
The statement read in part, “There is no doubt that this action is dangerous and can lead to loss of lives and property. It is blatantly against all safety measures in such places.
“The Lagos State Government through the Safety Commission is investigating this matter and will ensure that all parties to this reprehensible action are made to account for it.
“The safety of lives and properties of Lagosians and visitors remains a top priority to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration. We, therefore, advise that actions that can lead to loss of lives and properties be avoided.”
Gatekeepers News had earlier reported that a tweep has taken to the microblogging platform, Twitter, to reveal that kegs of petrol were shared as gifts at a party he attended.
The party which is supposedly an Erelu Okin Foundation Installation party held on Friday, according to photos and videos uploaded by the Tweep.
Organizers of the party decided to warm the hearts of their guest as they gave each of them kegs of fuel
The country has been thrown into a frenzy amid the fuel scarcity with hundreds of people queued at different filling stations trying to get fuel.
