Kaduna Poly Students And Staff Regain Freedom

Students and staff of Kaduna State Polytechnic have been released.

Gatekeepers News reports six students and two staff of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna state, Northern Nigeria, who were kidnapped by gunmen, have been released after 28 days in captivity.

According to Channels Television, they were released on Thursday night.

On June 11, gunmen invaded the main campus better known as “UPE” and kidnapped six students, staff, and killed a student.

The campus which is less than 45 minutes drive to Kaduna metropolis, is located along an expressway just at the entrance of Zaria.

According to the polytechnic’s public relations, Abdullahi Shehu said the students and staff regained their freedom after negotiating a ransom.

Although Shehu did not reveal how much was paid as ransom, he noted that the institution’s management will receive them at an undisclosed location where they will be kept until they are reunited with their families.

Recently, Kaduna has recorded a spike in the abduction of residents.
