BBNaija All Stars: ‘I’m ashamed’ — Seyi Apologises Over ‘Misogynistic’ Comments

Seyi Awolowo, a participant in the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) All-Stars reality show, has issued an apology for his recent “misogynistic” statement made on the show.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Awolowo’s remarks about his intentions to financially support his son and friends to engage in sexual activities with pre-arranged individuals stirred significant backlash from the public.

His comment garnered criticism from Nigerians and even drew attention from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).

In response to the controversy, Awolowo’s management previously emphasized that his statement “does not define his overall personality”.

However, during a recent diary session, Seyi expressed remorse for his comment after being informed by Biggie, the guiding voice on BBNaija, about the negative reactions it had generated.

“Big Brother, I honestly did not remember that. Yes. It is very very misogynistic. I am so sorry for saying those kinds of comments. It is a very wrong thing to say. And I am just regretting it now. I cannot even remember I said those things. I am sure I said things even worse. I cannot remember the conversation in totality,” he said.

Revealing more during his diary session, Seyi noted that he knew he had “a dark side in him” which he is making conscious efforts to tame.

On Wednesday, Awolowo also tendered his apology to housemates in the lounge.

“I think in between Sunday morning; I said some things to some couple of housemates at the time. I literally just remembered it yesterday, and it is something I am really not proud of. I am ashamed of it. I know probably when you guys get outside and see that clip, you guys, too, will be disgusted,” he said.

“So I just want to apologise to every woman in the house. When you go outside, you will understand. I said some very nasty things and brashly things to my person. Not to my person but things I am not supposed to have said. And I really and sincerely apologise. These are words I am not supposed to use.”

He additionally extended his apology to his wife, mother, and management.

The BBNaija All-Stars reality TV show commenced on July 23 and is slated to conclude on October 1.
