Christian Eriksen Sends Greetings To Teammates

Christian Eriksen has sent greetings to teammates.

Gatekeepers News reports that Christian Eriksen has sent greetings to his Danish teammates from the hospital where he is recuperating after his collapse on the pitch during Denmark’s opening Euro 2020 match against Finland.

The Danish Football Association said on Sunday, “This morning we have spoken to Christian Eriksen, who has sent his greetings to his teammates. His condition is stable, and he continues to be hospitalized for further examination.”

Eriksen had collapsed shortly before the end of the first half in Saturday’s game at Copenhagen.

The match which was initially suspended following prolonged efforts from the medical staff to revive Eriksen with CPR and a defibrillator later resumed and ended 1-0 in favour of their counterparts, Finland.

Also, the Danish FA in a statement on Sunday, said, “We would like to thank everyone for the heartfelt greetings to Christian Eriksen from fans, players, the Royal Families from both Denmark and England, international associations, clubs, etc.”

“We encourage everyone to send their greetings to the Danish FA, where we will make sure they are passed on to Christain and his family.”

The 29-year-old Inter Milan midfielder joined the Serie A side in 2020 after seven years with English Tottenham Hotspur.

The Danish talisman, who came through the youth ranks at Ajax and started his professional career with the Dutch club, has more than 100 caps for his country.

Eriksen has, however, been receiving kind words from his fellow footballer far and wide.

In Group B’s other match, Romelu Lukaku who opened the scoring for Belgium over Russia, ran over to the camera to send a message of support to his Inter teammate. Lukaku said, “Chris, Chris, sterkte jongen (Dutch for ‘wish you strength/all the best). I love you!”

The Belgian, who scored a second goal late in the game told journalists in his post-match interview that he “cried a lot” and “was scared” when he heard the news of Eriksen’s collapse.

He added, “I spend more time with him than with my family, so my thoughts are with him, his girlfriend, his two kids, and his family.”

Eriksen’s former teammate, Son Heung-Min in Goyang, South Korea who scored a goal in his team’s 2-1 victory over Lebanon in a World Cup qualifier, had shouted “Christian Eriksen, I love you”.

In the same vein, his ex-teammate, Harry Kane, sent his love to the Danish talisman and his family on Saturday, “Chris. I’m sending all my love to you and your family. Stay strong mate.”

Similarly, his former club Tottenham said, “All of our thoughts are with Christian Eriksen and his family,” while his Inter Milan teammate Ashley Young wrote: “PLEASE BRO PLEASE.”

Saturday’s incident was reminiscent of Fabrice Muamba’s collapse in 2012, after which the footballer suffered a cardiac arrest during Bolton’s FA Cup match against Tottenham.

Although Muamba eventually recovered, it cut his playing career short. Following Eriksen Collapse, he said, “Please God.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge applauded the medics who ran onto the pitch to help Eriksen and to referee Anthony Taylor, who suspended the match immediately.

The royals said, “Encouraging news about Christian Eriksen, we are all thinking about him and his family. Well done to the medical team and Anthony Taylor for their calm and swift action.”
