The Nigerian Senate has rejected the clause providing immunity for National Assembly Presiding Officers.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Senate rejected the clause during the constitution amendment plenary session.
The Bill seeks to alter the Provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to Expand Immunity to the Legislative and Judicial Arms of Government; and for Related Matters.
The Bill sought to confer immunity on the heads of the two Chambers and thier deputies from prosecution.
29 Senators voted in support while 59 voted against.
