Oluwabamise Ayanwole, a 22-year-old lady who was declared missing after boarding a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, has been found dead.
Gatekeepers News reports that Ayanwola went missing on Saturday, February 26, while returning to Ota from Ajah. She was said to have boarded a BRT bus with number 240257 going to Oshodi at about 7 p.m. at Chevron Bus-Stop.
Ayanwola, a fashion designer, had sent a voice note to her friends immediately she sensed that she was in danger, urging them to pray for her safety. The voice note captioned the driver’s voice saying he likes her and also asked for her name and other details.
She had also sent a video to her friend showing how dark it was in the bus and said, “There are three men and one woman in the bus. The woman is sitting at the back. That’s the number of the bus in case. Please pray for me.’’
In response, her friends told her to alight at the Oworonsoki bus stop, before the Oshodi bus stop, but that was the last that was heard from her.
However, on Monday, one of Ayanwole’s relatives said she has been found dead.
“We are at the morgue. We have confirmed the corpse,” the relative said.
Ayanwola’s body was reportedly dropped on Lagos Island by a BRT vehicle and a jeep, according to an unnamed man who informed officials of Ebute Ero Police Station on Saturday evening upon sighting the corpse.
The corpse was thereafter taken to the Mainland Hospital mortuary.
“An autopsy will be carried out to confirm if any part of her body is missing,” the relative said.
A manhunt has been launched for the driver of the BRT but no progress has been recorded.
