Nigeria women’s national football team, Falconets have advanced to knockout stages of FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after winning a 4-0 victory against Venezuela on Saturday.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Falconets, led by coach Chris Danjuma, went had previously defeated Korea Republic 1-0 in their opening game but lost to Germany with 3-1.
Omowunmi Bello scored first goal in the 16th minute, with assistance from Chiamaka Cristabel Okwuchukwu who had previously scored against Germany.
Okwuchukwu won the second goal in the 28th minute, with assistance from Alani.
Flourish Chioma Sabastine, who had secured Nigeria’s victory against Korea Republic scored the third goal in stoppage time of the first half, giving the Falconets a commanding lead and Venezuela winning nothing.
Nigeria defended their three-goal in the second half, with their coach introducing several changes,
and in the dying moments of the game,
Joy Igbokwe added a fourth goal at the end of the game, assisted by Esther Ajakaye in additional time.
Nigeria finished second in Group D, level on points with Germany but behind on goal difference.
