Paralympics: Team Nigeria’s Oluwafemiayo Wins Gold In Para-Powerlifting

Team Nigeria’s Folashade Oluwafemiayo has won gold in women’s 86kg powerlifting with a world record of 166kg to retain her title.

Gatekeepers News reports that Deng Xuemei of China came after her with silver while Nadia Ali of Egypt came last with bronze.

The para powerlifting’s win makes Nigeria’s medal tally at Paralympics to be seven medals in total.

Olufunmilayo broke the earlier World Record set by her in the women’s over 86kg Para-Powerlifting, becoming the first Para-athlete in history to lift 166kg.

She also won the record gold by lifting 165kg during 2020 Tokyo Paralympic and silver medal at London 2012 Games.
