Super Falcons Lose 2-1 To France In International Friendly

Nigeria’s women’s senior football team, the Super Falcons lost 2-1 to France’s Les Bleues in an International Friendly match on Saturday night.

Gatekeepers News reports that the friendly match was held at Stade Raymond Kopa in Angers, France.

The Nigeria team was missing key players as captain Rasheedat Ajibade, African Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala, and defender Olamide Demehin all missed out.

France dominated the encounter as Eugénie Le Sommer scored in the 29th minute, followed by a goal by Amel Majri eight minutes later.

Super Falcons however responded just before halftime, with Ifeoma Onumonu making history as the first Nigerian to score a goal against France.

The second half saw a more balanced contest, with both teams creating chances, but no team scored any goal.

The match took a sour turn for Nigeria when veteran defender Osinachi Ohale received a red card in the final stages.

The defeat marks Nigeria’s fourth consecutive loss to France.
