Security operatives in Anambra State uncovered more than 30 graves and a shrine at a hotel situated in Oba, within the Idemili South Local Government Area.
Gatekeepers News reports that the discovery occurred over the weekend following a report from a concerned resident.
The hotel, officially registered as Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites, is commonly referred to as La Cruise Hotel and is located along the Onitsha-Owerri road. In the wake of the discovery, videos depicting the graves and the subsequent demolition of the hotel have gained significant attention on social media platforms.
A post on the Anambra state government handle on X said the “hotel has well-partitioned graves of over 30 on the last floor with a shrine”.
Onyeka Ibezim, deputy governor in Anambra state, led security operatives to demolish the building on Saturday.
Addressing journalists after the exercise, Ibezim said there is no room for criminality in the south-east state.
“The state has zero tolerance for all sorts of criminality. Our people must go on with their businesses,” he said.
