Osun High Court Debunks Report On Lady Fined For Failing To Visit Boyfriend After 3k Fare

Osun State High Court has debunked report stating that a Magistrate fined a lady for failing to visit her boyfriend after collecting transport fare.

Gatekeepers News reports that the report stated that Magistrate Akogun Oludare from Ilesa Magisterial District ordered Rhoda Adu to pay her boyfriend N150,000 for failing to visit him after accepting N3,000 as transport fare.

According to the reports, Rhoda decided to switch off her phone and did not show up as agreed, thereby causing emotional distress to her partner.

The high court in a statement by chief registrar, F.I. Omisade dated 27 January, dismissed the reports as misleading and untrue, adding that Magistrate Akogun Oludare doesn’t exist.

It urged the public to disregard the fake news, stressing that no magistrate in the state has ever given such an order.

The statement reads, “ The attention of the Osun State High Court has been drawn to the fake and disturbing news making the rounds in the social media. It was widely reported between Thursday 23rd and Saturday 25* January, 2025 that one Akogun Oludare, a Magistrate sitting at llesa Magisterial District ordered a lady to pay her boyfriend the sum of N150, 000 for collecting N 3,000, as transport fare to visit the man, a promise she did not keep.”

“There is no magistrate that is known as Akogun Oludare in Osun State Judiciary.
Furthermore, no magistrate in Osun State ever gave such an order.”

“This news is misleading and untrue in so far as it relates to a magistrate in Osun State. The general public is enjoined to disregard this news and throw it into the trash can where it rightly belongs.”
