PDP Shifts Deadline For Convention Nomination Forms Submission Indefinitely

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has indefinitely extended the deadline for the submission of nomination and expression of interest forms.

Gatekeepers News reports that Debo Ologunagba, secretary of the publicity sub-committee of the national convention organising committee (NCOC), confirmed the development in a statement issued in Abuja.

He noted that the initial deadline of September 26 has been cancelled, with a new date to be announced later. The screening of aspirants, earlier fixed for September 30, has also been postponed.

According to Ologunagba, the extension was granted to allow smooth preparations for the exercise. He assured aspirants that the new dates would be communicated in due course and urged them to take note accordingly.

The PDP’s national elective convention is scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan. On August 18, the party’s national working committee (NWC) unveiled a 110-member organising committee to oversee the national convention.

Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri chairs the committee, with Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke and Kabiru Turaki serving as first and second deputies respectively, while Enugu Governor Peter Mbah acts as secretary. The committee is tasked with overseeing all arrangements and ensuring a smooth event.

Other prominent members of the committee include Adolphus Wabara (BoT chairman), Umar Iliya Damagum (acting PDP chairman), Taofeek Arapaja (deputy national chairman, south), Samuel Anyawu (national secretary), Namadi Sambo (former vice-president), Bala Muhammed (Bauchi governor), Seyi Makinde (Oyo governor), and Douye Diri (Bayelsa governor).

Also listed are Plateau governor Caleb Muftwang, Rivers governor Siminalayi Fubara, Taraba governor Kefas Agbu, Zamfara governor Dauda Lawal, former Kaduna governor Mohammed Makarfi, former Senate president Bukola Saraki, and former Niger governor Aliyu Babangida.
