Borno Set To Conduct LG Elections In Hard-To-Reach Communities

All is set for the Local Government Council elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, 13th December 2025, across the 27 Local Government Areas, including hard -to-reach communities, Dr. Tahiru Shettima, Chairman of Borno State Independent Electoral Commission ( (BOSIEC), said on Friday..

Gatekeepers News reports that, however, according to Shettima, voters from Guzamala Local Government Council will be transported to cast their ballots in nearby Gajiram, the headquartersNganzai Local Government Area due to insecurity.

Dr. Shettima made this known during a press conference held at the Commission’s office in Maiduguri, the State Capital

According to BOSIEC , the elections will be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, despite the security challenges in parts of the state

” The Commission has deployed sensitive and non-sensitive election materials to all local government areas, and security agencies have assured us of safety of voters and election officials in all parts of the state.” Dr Shettima said .

The BOSIEC Chairman revealed that six parties are fielding candidates in the election and they including, Boot Party, African Democratic Congress (ADC) , All Progressives Congress (APC) New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP).

He also revealed that sizable number female candidates are also contesting chairmanship and Councellorship positions.
