Abdulaziz Nyako, a former governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, has defected back to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Gatekeepers News reports that Nyako announced his return to the APC during a meeting in Yola. The former senator, who represented Adamawa Central between 2015 and 2019, had earlier left APC to join ADC, under which platform he contested 2019 governorship election in the state.

Welcoming his return, party stakeholders described Nyako as a formidable figure whose re-entry is expected to strengthen the APC’s structure and electoral prospects in Adamawa. They added that the party is focused on building a stronger base ahead of future elections.

Nyako, son of former Adamawa Governor Murtala Nyako, is a prominent political figure in the state. His defection comes amid internal challenges within ADC in Adamawa, where leadership disputes between rival factions have created divisions within the party.
