Trump Threatens 50% Tariff On Countries Supplying Weapons To Iran After Ceasefire Deal

United States President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning that any country found supplying military weapons to Iran will face a 50% tariff on all goods exported to the United States, following a recently announced ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a post shared on his Truth Social account on Wednesday, Trump declared that the measure would take immediate effect and would apply broadly without exceptions.

He stated that countries involved in arming Iran would be penalised through heavy trade restrictions, describing the policy as part of efforts to discourage military support to the Middle Eastern nation.

The announcement comes shortly after both the United States and Iran reportedly agreed to a ceasefire deal, which has opened the door to wider diplomatic discussions between the two sides.

Trump also revealed that discussions are ongoing regarding possible sanctions relief for Iran, noting that several elements of a proposed 15-point framework had already been agreed upon during negotiations.

Earlier proposals reportedly included issues such as uranium enrichment limits, compensation arrangements, and phased withdrawal of US forces from the region.

According to details shared in diplomatic discussions, Iran’s earlier proposal also touched on the lifting of sanctions and cooperation on handling nuclear materials, including uranium already stored within the country.

The US president further claimed that Washington would work with Tehran to address concerns over uranium stockpiles, including efforts to locate and remove buried materials as part of future agreements.

Meanwhile, European leaders have urged both sides to sustain the ceasefire and accelerate diplomatic negotiations, warning that renewed conflict could destabilise the wider Middle East.

In a joint statement, they called for strict adherence to the truce and stressed the need for a lasting political settlement.
