Former members of Peoples Democratic Party have emerged as top officials of the African Democratic Congress in Ondo State following the party’s congress.

Gatekeepers News reports that Tola Alabere, a former caretaker chairman of the PDP in the state, was elected as the new chairman of the ADC, while Dare Akinwale, also a former PDP organising secretary, emerged as the organising secretary.

Other officials elected at the congress include Ola Amure as legal adviser, Kunle Adeloye as secretary, and Bobby Omotoso as deputy chairman.

The exercise was supervised by Kehinde Agboola, chairman of the party’s national convention committee, who said the process followed due procedure.

He stated that the congress complied with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act, adding that earlier ward and local government congresses paved the way for the state-level exercise.

Agboola also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to weaken opposition parties, claiming such tactics have been used to dominate the political space.

He further criticised government policies, saying, “This government came as if they had better alternatives. They removed subsidies from petroleum products and taxed everything, including childbirth. The loan this government has taken in the last two years is more than all loans taken by the previous administration in this fourth Republic.”

Speaking on behalf of the new executives, Alabere said their main objective is to strengthen the party and secure victory in future elections in the state.
