2027 Election: ADC Must Unite or Risk Missing Historic Opportunity— Prince Fawaz

Edo State House of Assembly aspirant for Etsako West Constituency I on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Prince Fawaz Muhammad, has urged newly elected party executives to leverage their emergence to rebuild unity and strategically reposition the party for power ahead of future elections.

Gatekeeepers News reports that the State Assembly aspirant made the call in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City following the conclusion of the party’s congresses across the state.

He specifically congratulated the newly elected Edo State Chairman of the party, Dr Tony Alile, alongside other executives at the ward, local government, and state levels, describing their emergence as a critical turning point for the party in Edo State.

While commending the peaceful conduct of the congresses, he noted that the process has also brought to the fore underlying concerns around inclusiveness, coordination, and internal cohesion—issues he said must be urgently addressed to strengthen the party.

“I congratulate all those who emerged from the ward to the state level. Your victories are not just personal achievements but a call to duty at a very critical time in the life of our party,” he said.

Muhammad stressed that the current political climate demands serious leadership, unity of purpose, and deliberate grassroots mobilisation, warning that internal divisions and the concentration of party structures in the hands of a few individuals could undermine the party’s chances in future elections.

“The task before us is clear and urgent which is to unite the ADC from the ward level to the national level. We must close ranks, rebuild trust, and ensure that no member feels excluded. A divided party cannot effectively challenge for power,” he stated.

He cautioned that opposition parties often fail not because they lack support, but due to internal disunity, poor coordination, and avoidable conflicts, urging the new leadership under Dr. Alile to rise above these challenges and provide inclusive direction.

Prince Fawaz further noted that the ADC is increasingly being seen as a viable alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape, adding that the responsibility now lies with party leaders to translate that potential into electoral success.

“This is not just about occupying positions; it is about preparing the party to take power. The expectations from Nigerians are growing, and we must demonstrate capacity, organisation, and unity if we are to meet those expectations,” he added.

The former Speaker of the Edo State Youth Parliament called on the executives to immediately commence reconciliation efforts, strengthen grassroots structures, and mobilise support across all wards, stressing that the journey to 2027 must begin with deliberate and coordinated action.

He also urged them to be magnanimous in victory by carrying along those who contested but did not emerge successful, noting that inclusiveness remains key to building a formidable political platform.

Prince Muhammad assured the new leadership of his support and constructive engagement, while positioning himself as a committed stakeholder in the growth and success of the party in Edo State.

“Only a united, disciplined, and people-driven ADC can successfully challenge for power. The responsibility is now on all of us—especially those entrusted with leadership—to rise above personal interests and build a party that truly belongs to the people,” he said.
