All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its governorship primaries in Kwara and Yobe states, producing Salihu Yakubu Danladi, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, as its flagbearer in Kwara State.
Gatekeepers News reports that Danladi polled 94,990 votes to defeat other aspirants, including Abdulfatai Seriki who scored 41,700 votes, while former Kwara APC chairman Bashir Bolarinwa came third with 22,118 votes.
Other contenders such as Femi Sanni, former senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe, and Dele Belgore also participated in the contest.
The result was officially announced by the election committee chairman, Musiliu Obanikoro, who declared Danladi the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections in Kwara State.
In Yobe State, Baba Wali, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), emerged winner of the APC governorship primary after securing 236,711 votes to defeat other contestants in the race.
Kagu Abubakar came second with 9,748 votes, while Bashir Machina polled 1,894 votes. Other aspirants also recorded smaller vote totals in the tightly contested exercise.
The party said the primaries were conducted across both states in line with its internal democracy guidelines ahead of the 2027 general elections.
