A federal high court in Abuja has issued a warrant for the arrest of former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, following allegations of certificate forgery being investigated by Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Gatekeepers News reports that the court granted the order after the ICPC filed an ex parte motion in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1160/2026. According to the anti-graft agency, Nnaji repeatedly failed to honour invitations for questioning over allegations that he forged academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials allegedly submitted during his ministerial screening and confirmation process.
ICPC counsel, Osuobeni Akponimisingha, told the court that the commission sought permission to declare the former minister wanted through newspapers, social media platforms and other channels.
The agency also requested a warrant authorising its operatives and other law enforcement officers to arrest Nnaji and bring him in for investigation. The court granted all the requests and ruled that the order would remain in force until he is apprehended.
Nnaji, who was appointed minister by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023, resigned from office after allegations surfaced that the academic and NYSC certificates he submitted for his appointment were forged. Investigations by multiple authorities later led to an ICPC probe into the matter.
The controversy has generated several legal battles in recent months. Nnaji had previously approached the court to prevent the release of his academic records amid the allegations, while reports indicated that the ICPC had been gathering documents from relevant institutions as part of its investigation.
The former minister recently emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 elections.
