Former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has endorsed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun governorship election, urging party members to unite behind him.
Gatekeepers News reports that Amosun announced his endorsement after hosting Adeola and other APC leaders at his residence in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, on Saturday. He described the meeting as a turning point for the party, saying internal disagreements that followed the APC primary had been resolved.
According to the former Governor, the party must now close ranks and focus on securing victory in the 2027 governorship election. He stressed that the primary contest was over and called on members across the state to strengthen grassroots mobilisation in support of the party’s candidate.
Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the Senate and chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, said he visited Amosun to appreciate his contributions to Ogun State and the country, while also thanking him for supporting his emergence as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate.
The senator also apologised for any actions that might have strained their relationship and appealed for Amosun’s continued support as the party prepares for the election.
The visit was attended by several APC leaders, including former Deputy Governor Salmot Badru, Minister of State for Health and Social Services Kunle Salako, current Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly Daisi Elemide, former Speakers Kunle Oluomo, Lekan Mustapha, Muyiwa Oladipupo and Titi Oseni, as well as other prominent party stakeholders.
