Bayo Adetomiwa Okoh, a former contestant on the inaugural season of Big Brother Africa, has died.
Gatekeepers News reports that news of Okoh’s death emerged on Saturday, August 8, 2026, after media personality Matilda Duncan announced his passing on social media.
She shared photographs of the former reality television star while expressing grief over the recent deaths in the entertainment industry. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been disclosed.
Okoh was among the 12 contestants who participated in the first edition of Big Brother Africa, which premiered in 2003. He represented Nigeria and was identified as an economist at the time. He spent 91 days in the house before his eviction, finishing seventh in the competition.
The inaugural season lasted 106 days and featured housemates from 12 African countries. Zambia’s Cherise Makubale emerged as the winner, while Tanzania’s Mwisho Mwampamba finished as runner-up.
Okoh’s death has since triggered reactions from fans and viewers who remembered him as one of the contestants who featured in the pioneering season of the pan-African reality show.
