Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Al-Madani, a muezzin at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, has died at the age of 51.
Gatekeepers News reports that Al-Madani’s death was announced on Monday, September 21, 2026, with reports stating that he had made his final Adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, at Masjid Al-Haram earlier that morning.
His final call was reportedly for the Fajr prayer, hours before his death.
Born in Madinah in 1976, Al-Madani began calling the Adhan at a neighbourhood mosque at the age of 15. He later served at Masjid Al-Maddah in Madinah before being appointed a muezzin at the Grand Mosque in 1439 AH, corresponding to 2017–2018.
He was among the 24 principal muezzins of Masjid Al-Haram, with six muezzins rotating daily to deliver the calls to prayer.
Al-Madani was particularly known for his Fajr Adhan and also performed tabligh, relaying the imam’s Takbeers from the muezzins’ platform to worshippers across the Grand Mosque.
He reportedly held a qualification in Qur’anic Studies and had previously spoken about his experience delivering his first Adhan at the Grand Mosque.
His funeral prayer was scheduled to be performed after the Asr prayer on Monday at Masjid Al-Haram, followed by his burial at Al-Mu‘alla Cemetery in Makkah.
