President Bola Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and thanking her for standing by him through difficult periods.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a birthday message issued on Monday, Tinubu praised Remi for accompanying him through their years together with patience, grace and courage. He said she had remained a source of counsel, particularly during challenging periods.
“Through all these years, you have remained the one who truly understands me,” Tinubu said.
He also described Remi as someone who speaks honestly to him, even when her advice is difficult to accept.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” he said.
Tinubu referenced a Yoruba saying, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀,” meaning “a good wife is her husband’s crown,” as well as the biblical description of a virtuous woman, saying Remi had given those words meaning in his life.
The president also praised his wife’s humanitarian activities, noting her involvement in supporting young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers.
He recalled her work through the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos and the Renewed Hope Initiative under his administration.
Tinubu said Remi’s compassion extended beyond ethnic, regional and religious boundaries, adding that she had helped people whose names she might never know.
Reflecting on their marriage, the president said their journey had involved difficult decisions, sacrifices, laughter and prayer.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you. Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you,” he said.
He thanked Remi for the life they had built together and prayed for her continued good health and happiness.
“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi. I pray that God Almighty will grant you many more years in good health and joy,” Tinubu said.
