Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that it will conduct 25-day maintenance work on the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330kV power line from Monday, July 28, 2025, to Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Gatekeepers News reports that the maintenance work, which will be carried out daily from 8 am to 5 pm, is expected to cause intermittent power outages in Lagos.

According to TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the upgrade involves the installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) fibre cable on the transmission line and has been approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the National Independent System Operator (NISO).

The upgrade aims to enable the full operationalisation of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, enhancing real-time monitoring and management of the power grid.

The electricity distribution companies in Lagos State, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (Ikeja Electric), have informed their customers about the planned upgrade, stating that there will be intermittent power supply during the period.

The intermittent outages and load shedding are expected to affect areas across the network coverage of EKEDC and Ikeja Electric in Lagos State.
