The UK is set to experience its fourth heatwave of the summer, with temperatures expected to reach a scorching 34C (93F) in central and southern England.

Gatekeepers News reports that the UK Health Security Agency has issued heat health alerts for all of England, effective from Tuesday morning to Wednesday.

The alerts have been upgraded from yellow to amber in five areas of England, indicating potential travel disruption and increased demand on health services. The hottest weather will be concentrated in central and southern England, where temperatures are expected to exceed the official heatwave criteria for at least three consecutive days.

The heatwave is expected to peak on Tuesday, with most of the UK recording temperatures between 24 and 30C. London and the Midlands are forecast to reach 34C, while Scotland and Northern Ireland will remain slightly cooler.

The heatwave criteria are likely to hold across central and eastern parts of England, east Wales, and eastern Scotland. Yellow heat health alerts will be in place for the whole of England from Tuesday morning until Wednesday evening, with amber alerts in place for London, the South East, East of England, East Midlands, and West Midlands.

The nights will also feel hot and humid, with a chance of tropical nights in southern England where temperatures may not fall below 20C. While temperatures are expected to drop slightly below heatwave criteria by the weekend, high pressure is likely to build again through next week, maintaining a warm and dry theme.

As drought and hosepipe bans continue in several parts of England, there is some rain forecast, but it will be showery in nature and potentially hit-and-miss.
