Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has officially broken Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
Gatekeepers News reports that Hilda prepared 8,780 kilograms (about 19,356 lb 9 oz) of the dish at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, in partnership with food brand Gino.
Announcing the feat in a post on X, Guinness World Records wrote, “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria .”
The record-breaking event which was attended by thousands of people attended the festival, including celebrities and food lovers, took place at the “Gino World Jollof Festival”.
It featured a giant six-metre-wide steel pot, more than five tonnes of basmati rice, hundreds of cartons of tomato concentrate, and large quantities of onions and cooking oil.
This is not the first time Baci has earned global attention: in 2023 she held the Guinness title for the world’s longest cooking marathon (93 hours, 11 minutes) before it was later surpassed.
With this feat, Baci has once again drawn international focus to Nigerian cuisine, combining cultural pride with large-scale community celebration.
