Abdulmumin Jibrin, member of the House of Representatives for Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, has returned to All Progressives Congress (APC) after leaving New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Gatekeepers News reports that his defection comes roughly two months after NNPP announced his expulsion on grounds of alleged anti‑party activities and non‑payment of dues.
At a large rally in his hometown of Kofa, Bebeji Local Government Area, Jibrin declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re‑election in 2027 and urged his constituents to also align with the APC.
He recounted being warmly welcomed by thousands of supporters, including more than 2,000 Islamic clerics, who offered prayers for peace, development, and unity in Kiru/Bebeji, Kano, and Nigeria as a whole.
Jibrin had previously left the APC in 2022 to join the NNPP and was a known ally of former Kano governor and NNPP presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
In September 2025, the NNPP’s Kano chapter publicly announced Jibrin’s expulsion for repeated media attacks against the party’s leadership and failure to pay mandatory dues.
