Police Arrest Driver In Anthony Joshua Crash

Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that the driver of Lexus SUV involved in the accident that claimed two lives in Anthony Joshua’s convoy has been taken into custody.

Gatekeepers News reports that the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement shared on X on Thursday, saying investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Babaseyi said, “The driver of the Lexus SUV is currently in custody in connection with the Anthony Joshua accident case. Investigations are ongoing.”

Recall that the accident occurred on Monday along the Sagamu axis of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near Sinoma area of Ogun State.

The Lexus SUV conveying the former world heavyweight boxing champion reportedly rammed into a stationary truck while travelling from Lagos.

Joshua was said to have been in the vehicle with members of his team when the crash happened. He survived with minor injuries, while two of his close associates, Kevin Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, lost their lives at the scene.

Emergency responders, including operatives of Federal Road Safety Corps, were said to have arrived shortly after the crash to manage the situation and clear traffic on the highway.

Joshua was taken to Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, where he received treatment. He was discharged on Wednesday after doctors confirmed his condition was stable.
