Ogun Police Hand TikTok Personality Mirabel To Women Affairs Ministry As Rape Allegation Probe Continues

The Ogun State Police Command has released Abigeal Nsikak, popularly known as Mirabel on TikTok, to the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development while investigations into her rape allegation remain ongoing.

Gatekeepers Newreports that in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the update was provided in response to widespread public interest in the case.

According to the police, Mirabel reported to the station after making the rape allegation on social media and was immediately taken for medical evaluation.

“Upon her visit to the police station, she was received and taken to a medical facility for necessary examination to verify her claims. She has continued to cooperate with investigators as due process progresses,” the statement read.

The Command explained that, considering her welfare and need for support, she was released into the custody of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The ministry has since assumed responsibility for her care and assured authorities that she would be available whenever required as the investigation continues.

Police emphasised that the matter is being handled with caution and professionalism and urged the public not to interfere with the process.

“The Command assures the public that the matter is being handled with professionalism, sensitivity, and diligence. Members of the public are urged to refrain from speculation and allow the investigation to run its full course. Further updates will be provided as necessary,” the statement added.

Mirabel had earlier alleged in a TikTok video that an unidentified man forced his way into her apartment in the Ogijo area of Ogun State and raped her. Her claim drew widespread attention online, with many Nigerians expressing concern and demanding justice.

However, the case took a new turn after an audio recording circulated on social media in which she allegedly admitted to fabricating parts of her story. In response, the police issued a public advisory reminding citizens that providing false information to law enforcement is a criminal offence under the Criminal Code Act and the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.

Despite the controversy, the police said no conclusions have been reached, stressing that investigations are still in progress.

The statement was signed by DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, and dated February 25, 2026.
