Power Minister Adelabu Dismisses Fake Resignation Letter Amid 2027 Ambition

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming he has resigned from his position.

Gatekeepers Newreports that speaking with Channels Television, Adelabu described the resignation letter making the rounds online as fake, stressing that he has not submitted any such letter.

He clarified that while he remains interested in the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State, his immediate focus is on his current assignment as minister.

“Of course, yes, I am very much in the race,” Adelabu said.

“But I will act at the appropriate time, and you will be duly informed, but will be with the consent of Mr President.

“For now, I’m committed to my present assignment. It’s still about service, whether national or sub-national.”

Adelabu also reiterated that his political ambition remains tied to the Agodi Government House in Oyo State, though he emphasized that any decision regarding his resignation would be taken at the right time.

Meanwhile, the Renewed Hope Agenda Ambassadors in Oyo State, led by Senator Teslim Folacin, have been mobilising support across the state since 2025. The group has been working to reconcile aggrieved party members across the 33 local government areas and strengthen the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of future elections.

Their efforts are aimed at rallying backing for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu and securing victory for the APC in Oyo State, with the governorship seat at Agodi Government House seen as a key target.

There are also indications that Senator Sarafadeen Ali, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, may be interested in contesting the APC governorship ticket.

Earlier, President Tinubu directed political appointees in his administration intending to contest in the 2027 general elections to resign on or before March 31. The directive was based on Section 88(1) of the Electoral Act 2026 and the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of party primaries for the polls.
