Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully foiled a terrorist attack in Plateau State, leaving two persons injured during the incident.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to reports, soldiers under Operation Enduring Peace prevented the attack by suspected terrorists in Shendam LGA, stopping what could have escalated into a major security breach.
Following the operation, troops carried out a follow-up sweep of the area, where they discovered two local residents who had sustained gunshot wounds during the attack. The victims were promptly evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Security forces have since launched efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing attackers, as part of ongoing operations to restore calm in the region.
The incident comes amid rising security concerns in Plateau State, particularly after a recent attack in Jos North LGA, where several lives were lost, highlighting the persistent threat of armed violence in the area.
