Operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted multiple parcels of cocaine concealed inside food flasks meant for export to the United Kingdom.

Gatekeepers News reports that according to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the illicit consignment was discovered at the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.

The agency said 12 large parcels of cocaine, weighing about 2.80 kilograms, were carefully hidden in false bottoms of food flasks prepared for shipment via a Virgin Atlantic flight to the UK.

Babafemi disclosed that two cargo agents linked to the consignment were arrested at the scene, while further investigation led to the arrest of the alleged sender, a freight forwarder, in a follow-up operation.

In a related operation, NDLEA operatives also intercepted another consignment containing a strong strain of cannabis known as “Loud,” weighing about 2.90 kilograms, which was hidden in snack packs and shipped from the United States.

The agency said additional arrests were made in connection with the cannabis shipment, including the consignee, who was later apprehended in Lagos.

NDLEA noted that the seizures are part of its ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking networks, especially those using export channels to smuggle illicit substances abroad.
