President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, leading to the exit of two ministers from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the changes affect the ministries of finance and housing.
Mr. Wale Edun has been relieved of his role as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. He is to hand over to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been elevated to take over the position. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the same ministry.
Similarly, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa will step down as Minister of Housing and Urban Development. He has been directed to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry, pending the confirmation of Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, who has been named as the ministerial nominee for the portfolio.
The directive states that all handover processes must be completed on or before April 23, 2026.
Akume explained that the reshuffle is aimed at improving coordination and strengthening governance, particularly in delivering economic results under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers in making the changes and expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service, wishing them success in their future endeavours.
