Manchester City defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley Stadium to win the 2025/26 FA Cup after Antoine Semenyo scored the decisive goal in the second half of the final.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Ghanaian forward produced a stunning backheel finish in the 72nd minute to hand Pep Guardiola’s side their eighth FA Cup title.
The match was largely tense and cagey before Semenyo broke the deadlock with what many observers described as one of the finest goals in recent FA Cup final history. The goal came after Erling Haaland delivered a cross into the box, which Semenyo cleverly flicked into the net.
City controlled possession for much of the encounter but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities against a disciplined Chelsea side. Chelsea also had moments of pressure and appealed for penalties on a few occasions, but the referee waved away their claims.
The victory secured Manchester City’s second domestic trophy of the season following their League Cup triumph earlier in the campaign. It also marked another major achievement for Guardiola, who continues to add to his silverware collection with the club.
Semenyo, who joined Manchester City from Bournemouth in January, was widely praised after the final whistle for his match-winning display. The 26-year-old was named Player of the Match after delivering the moment that separated both sides in the final.
For Chelsea, the defeat extended their poor record in recent domestic cup finals, as the London club once again fell short at Wembley despite a spirited performance.
