Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho won the Scottish Premiership title with Celtic F.C. after the club staged a dramatic comeback victory over Hearts on the final day of the season.
Gatekeepers News reports that Celtic defeated Hearts 3-1 in a tense title decider at Celtic Park to clinch their 14th league crown in 15 years and deny Hearts a first Scottish title in 66 years.
Hearts had gone into the final matchday needing only a draw to secure the championship and took the lead through Lawrence Shankland. However, Celtic responded with an Arne Engels penalty before late goals from Daizen Maeda and Callum Osmand sealed the title in dramatic fashion.
Iheanacho played an important role in the comeback after being introduced in the second half. Reports said his arrival added attacking spark to Celtic as the team piled pressure on Hearts in the closing stages of the encounter.
The former Super Eagles forward had already boosted Celtic’s title hopes earlier in the week when he scored a last-minute penalty against Motherwell to force the title race into the final day.
The triumph marks another major career achievement for Iheanacho, who joined Celtic in 2025 after spells with Manchester City F.C., Leicester City F.C. and Sevilla FC.
