Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a rescue operation in Oyo State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the victims were freed alive on Saturday, June 6, several days after they were kidnapped in Ibadan.
According to police sources, the rescue operation was carried out around 7:30 p.m. after sustained intelligence gathering and tactical pressure mounted on the kidnappers.
The operation led to a gun battle between security operatives and the abductors, during which two suspected kidnappers were killed and two firearms were recovered.
Mrs. John-Paul and her twin sons were abducted on June 3 while she was taking the children to school in the Challenge area of Ibadan. The incident sparked concern across Oyo State and drew reactions from political leaders and residents who called for their safe release.
Security sources said intelligence-led operations played a crucial role in locating the kidnappers and forcing a confrontation that ultimately led to the victims’ rescue.
Police operatives are reportedly continuing combing operations in nearby areas to track down other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the encounter, some of whom may have sustained gunshot wounds.
Confirming the development, the Oyo State Police Command said the victims had been rescued unhurt. The successful operation comes amid growing concerns over insecurity and kidnapping incidents in parts of Oyo State.
Before the rescue, Adelabu’s family had appealed for public support and prayers, describing the abduction as distressing while expressing confidence in security agencies to secure the victims’ freedom.
