President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh six-month extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, allowing him to remain in office beyond his previously scheduled retirement date.
Gatekeepers News reports that the extension marks the second time the President has prolonged Adeniyi’s stay as Customs boss. Adeniyi was appointed acting Comptroller-General by President Tinubu in June 2023 before his appointment was confirmed later that year.
Since assuming office, he has led a series of reforms focused on digitalisation, anti-smuggling operations, and improved efficiency within the Nigeria Customs Service.
