Chief executives of MTN Nigeria, Airtel, Globacom, Mafab Communications and other telecom companies have been given seven days to appear before lawmakers investigating network problems.

Gatekeepers News reports that the House of Representatives committee issued the directive at Wednesday’s public hearing in Abuja, fixing October 28, 2026, for their appearance.

The committee criticised some operators, including MTN and Mafab, for missing earlier invitations. It directed the Nigerian Communications Commission to secure compliance and ensure relevant documents were submitted.

The hearing will take place at 2 p.m. in Hearing Room 447 of the National Assembly’s New Building.

Committee chairman Olumide Osoba said company chiefs should personally explain their operational challenges and plans to improve services. Lawmakers warned that failure to attend could trigger steps to compel their appearance through arrest.

Osoba described recurring disruptions as “a matter of serious national concern”, given the dependence of businesses and financial transactions on telecom networks.

The investigation seeks to establish why subscribers continue to experience unreliable services and what operators are doing to address them.
