Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu‘s political fate will be decided on Sunday.

Gatekeepers News reports that Netanyahu will know his fate on Sunday as Israel’s parliament vote on a new government that would put an end to his 12 years power hold.

“The debate and vote on the new government will take place Sunday, June 13, 2021, during a special session of parliament,” Israel’s parliament Speaker, Yariv Levin said in a statement on Tuesday.

Gatekeepers News reports that if the coalition of right-wing, left-wing, centrist and Arab parties wins the vote of confidence on Sunday, it will be sworn in the same day, bringing an end to Netanyahu’s long rule as Prime Minister.

Nationalist Naftali Bennett would head the new government for two years, after which Centrist Yair Lapid would take over as the Prime Minister.

However, if the coalition government fails to win the vote, it would bring about the country’s fifth general election in less than two years.

Gatekeepers News reports that each of the four elections conducted in the past ended in deadlock and were seen as a referendum on Netanyahu.

Netanyahu had urged the right-wing members of parliament to block the coalition from taking office after eight parties reached an agreement to work together to form a new government.

He has called the proposed new government the “fraud of the century”, saying it endangered the state and people of Israel.
